The Disability Union x Manor Farm
The community team has been forming relationships and liaising with businesses and organisations to promote and raise awareness of accessibility within our communities. We have been in talks with our local farm in Southampton “Manor farm” and they have been outstanding in wanting to better their accessibility and learning opportunities throughout the farm. We will be working very closely with Manor farm to come up with activities and equipment to promote inclusion. We have lots of great ideas in the pipeline such as:
- Makaton throughout the farm
- Hands-on sensory learning with the animals
- A sensory garden and classroom where local SEN schools will get the opportunity to be a part of the build
Manor farm have already begun to make their play area more accessible since working with the union. To celebrate our collaboration with the farm we will be holding a joint open day at the farm in April 2022 to celebrate our fight for better accessibility and inclusion.
